A white cat with dark head markings crosses a film set past lighting stands and cable runs, with crew blurred in the background.
Between setups on The Long Watch. Two minutes after this frame the zoomies took her, the stage cleared itself, and everybody had a wonderful time.

Captain Kona Sable

Stoic guardian / action-thriller lead·On the roster. Currently asleep.

Cat. Large, mostly white, dark helmet markings, one black spot.

Captain Kona Sable is the elder stateswoman of the roster and its quiet center, and we would follow her anywhere. The markings read as a helmet, which is exactly why we cast her as the law: the guardian who says little and means all of it. She has never needed a line of dialogue to close a scene, so we have happily stopped writing her any.

She is also, unofficially, our head of set security — a job nobody gave her and nobody is taking away. She watches the crew, all of them, all day, without blinking, and the set has never been safer or more nervous. Notes arrive as a stare held until a human guesses correctly, and we are getting faster at it. Roughly once a shoot the zoomies take her and the stage clears itself, which is the most fun anyone has all week.

Between takes she and Ms. Ginger Townsworthe pal around like old frenemies, which Rosa Delgado in Talent Relations describes, fondly, as “the two of them, plotting, and nobody knows what.” Lily keeps her own company, as is her right. All three enforce the no-dogs rule, which has never once held for a full production, and we love them for holding the line anyway.

[Said nothing. Watched the entire crew for six hours. The set has never been safer. Will have notes.]
