A film poster showing an out-of-focus dark shape among trees at dusk, the title set small in the lower third.
The one-sheet. Marv turned down four sharper versions before approving this one, which he still finds a little legible.

Blurry: A Life Out of Focus

2024·In production, indefinitely, by design.·Unresolved

A portrait of an artist you cannot quite see.

Marv’s undocumentary, and the only production on our slate where a soft frame is a delivery and a sharp one is a reshoot. We have never enjoyed a brief more.

The condition of the engagement is that he is never clearly filmed. The footage is authentically undocumented: blurry, underexposed, glimpsed at the edge of frame or just past it. Every out-of-focus frame is a success, and we are pleased to report there are a great many of them.

It won an award nobody can confirm he attended. He has not disputed this, and we could not be prouder.

You can barely see me in it. Perfect. Five stars, if you can find them.
Marv · Director, Blurry: A Life Out of Focus
A camera operator films toward a dense stand of pines at dusk, the far treeline dark and empty.
Second unit, past the treeline, hour six. The subject was present for this frame. We are fairly sure, and we have chosen to be delighted about it.
